    4 Weekly Sessions for Intermediate Level

    Tuesdays beginning August 7, 2018, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm

    (Sessions may not be held on consecutive weeks due to other MAGG pre-scheduled workshops.)

    Intermediate Level - Students will continue to hone their skills in these jewelry making and metalsmithing sessions.  Learn how to refine your designs and streamline your process so you can do your best work at your current level.  Learn a variety of techniques from a professional metalsmith.  Define your individual style through projects and demos.  Handy tips and tricks will be shown weekly to help speed up your learning curve, so you can get the results you want quicker.  Great opportunity for those wanting to continue building on their basic skills and learn how to refine their style and take their work to the next level.

    Three (3) Beginning levels of instruction required for this class or permission from instructor.

    4 Week Instructor - Helen Blythe-Hart


    Helen is an internationally collected metal artist and educator.  She has been metalsmithing and teaching for over 40 years.  Her invention, a revolutionary soldering method called the Heat Zone, has helped thousands to conquer the torch.  She uses her method to create strikingly original jewels opulently encrusted with colorful gemstones and futuristic sculptures.  Degrees include an MFA and BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing and decades of Gemology.

    How Much

    $125 for non-members, with a 10% discount for MAGG members, and 20% discount for high school or college students.

    Advanced Level - This session is for self-directed students proficient in basic skills, who want to refine their jewelry making and take their work to the next level.  Learn a wide range of metal and stone-setting techniques from a professional metalsmith who can help you get your individualized work looking top notch.  A variety of demos will be shown each semester and design discussions will be ongoing.  Great experience for those on the professional track or those who want their individual jewelry visions to come to life.

    Prerequisite:  Three (3) Intermediate levels of instruction or permission from instructor.

    The Metal Arts Guild of Georgia invites any and all jewelry artists and metalsmiths to showcase their work at the 5th Annual MAGG Holiday Jewelry Market.  Participation in this sales event is open to all MAGG members who are makers of jewelry or objets d'art.

    DEADLINES / MEMBER ARTIST FEES

    • Registration before November 1, 2018 - $115.  After November 1 - $145
    • Registration is open to all MAGG members.  Not a MAGG member?  Join today!  Membership is $50 annually.  Go to our website to join or renew your membership:  www.gagoldsmiths.org
    • Register for the sale with the participation fee payable in advance via the MAGG website.  Include your reservation for a table rental if you need one. (**Table rental info below.**)  (Limited number of tables available and reserving a table is a SEPARATE transaction.)
    • Acceptance is on a first-come basis until the 22 spaces are full.  If your payment is accepted, you are registered for a space.

    • NO Refunds or Cancellations
    • There will be no percentage of sales due to MAGG.  That's a great deal.
    • Artists are responsible for their own sales and for filing sales tax returns.
    • Tables may be shared but the same fee applies per artist.
    • Artists should submit a photo of their work for potential use on posters, postcards, and other promotional materials including regular Facebook alerts.
    • Click here to reserve your space, and table, if needed.  It requires two separate transactions.
    MAGG WILL PROVIDE OR ARRANGE FOR:
    • A vigorous range of promotional initiatives including listings on festival calendars, Facebook, Instagram.
    • Print advertising, posters and postcards.
    • Earned media through the distribution of press releases.
    • Ideas for ways artists can promote the event themselves.
    • Signs on and around venue property the days leading up to the sale.
    • A police officer present for the duration of the event.
    • Liability insurance for set-up and day of the event in case of injuries.  We are NOT insuring your work so please be vigilant.
    • Logistical information about load-in/load-out and other details.
    • Wireless service in the building will be provided.  We recommend that you use a cell phone service like Square for your own credit card processing.
    • Set-up time for displays will be available on Friday, November 30 from 1 pm - 6 pm.  Do NOT bring jewelry until Saturday morning.  The building will open at 8 am Saturday for final setup.
    • All artists MUST help with cleanup at the end of the show on Saturday.
    • **A limited number of tables are available to rent on a first-come basis.  The cost is $30 for an 8-foot table (2 available) and $25 for a 6-foot table (7 available).
    • You can bring your own booth set-up and your own table instead.  The total footprint which must include your standing space and your chair is limited to 5 ft. X 6 ft. or 5 ft. X 8 ft. depending on your table length.
    • Electricity is available in parts of the room.  Upon registration you will receive a form to complete.  Indicate your need for electrical access on the form.**

    HOW TO PARTICIPATE AS A VOLUNTEER

    We will need some extra help with set-up on Friday and Saturday with hospitality, artist breaks, and greeting guests.  If you would like to join us, please send a note directly to GGG.Festivals@gmail.com and let us know what hours you are available.

    We will also need help putting out signs Thursday in nearby neighborhoods and collecting them on Saturday late afternoon.  Please send a note to GGG.Festivals@gmail.com if you could help with this.
